A Devotional Reflection for Women of Faith

As women pursuing the heart of God, it’s vital that we understand who He truly is — not just in theory or tradition, but in truth and relationship. The Bible doesn’t introduce us to a distant, abstract force or an impersonal deity. Instead, it reveals a living, loving, and deeply personal God.
We may not be able to see His face, yet His presence and character are woven into every corner of creation. Romans 1:20 reminds us:
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
The God of the Bible is Emotive, Relational, and Faithful — a God who longs to walk with us, talk with us, and be known by us.
God is Emotive
God feels! Throughout Scripture, we see the emotions of God — His compassion for the hurting, His grief over sin, His joy over repentance, and His love for His people.
Unlike us, God’s emotions never cause Him to sin or change His holy nature. His love isn’t moody, and His anger isn’t impulsive. He is steady and righteous in all His feelings and actions.
When we feel overwhelmed or unstable, we can rest in the truth that God’s heart is constant. We never have to wonder if He still cares — His emotions are always rooted in perfect love and truth.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17
What a beautiful thought — the Creator of the universe rejoices over you!
God Is Relational
God is not a cold, impersonal power. He is a Person — with will, emotion, and the deepest desire for relationship. From the very beginning, we see Him walking in the garden with Adam and Eve, speaking tenderly to His prophets, and revealing His heart to His people.
Sometimes, we mistake God’s holiness for distance. But Jesus shattered that illusion. His sacrifice tore the veil that once separated us, granting us direct access to the Father. Now, we can come boldly into His presence — loved, welcomed, and unafraid.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16
Examples of Deep Relationship with God
The Bible gives us countless portraits of men and women who truly knew God — not just about Him, but Him.
Moses – Exodus 33:11
“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. ”Moses’ friendship with God was marked by honesty, reverence, and deep intimacy. He sought God’s presence above all else and interceded passionately for others. And God listened!
David – Psalm 139 Though deeply flawed, David was called “a man after God’s own heart.” His life was a tapestry of repentance, worship, and raw honesty before God. The Psalms reveal a heart that ran toward God in every season — in victory, defeat, sorrow, and joy.
Paul – Acts 9 Once a persecutor of Christians, Paul encountered the risen Christ and was forever changed. His life became a testimony to the transforming power of grace. Through his letters, we see a man fully surrendered, completely in love with Jesus, and unshakable in faith.
God Is Faithful
Faithfulness means that God keeps His promises — always. His trustworthiness never wavers, and His love never fails. Even when we stumble, He remains steady.
Whether His people were wandering in the wilderness or standing in the promised land, His hand was always guiding, protecting, and providing.
“The Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…” – Exodus 34:6–7
More Scriptures on God’s Faithfulness:
Deuteronomy 7:9 – “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God…”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you…”
Lamentations 3:22–23 – “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed… Great is Your faithfulness.”
2 Timothy 2:13 – “If we are faithless, He remains faithful…”
The same faithful God who spoke to Moses and sustained Israel is the One who walks beside you today. His faithfulness is not just an attribute — it’s His nature.
Final Encouragement
God is not far away. He is near. He is relational, good, and faithful. Whether you find yourself in a season of joy or in the valley of tears, remember this: you can know God deeply.
Open your Bible and let His words speak life over you.
Pour out your heart in prayer — He listens.
Trust that He longs to draw near and reveal Himself to you.
He is not just the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — He is your God, too.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8
